Ellen Page recently made headlines for her emotional appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and for calling out Chris Pratt because he supports a church whose beliefs are infamously anti-LGBTQ. Apart from that, she has done so much for the queer community and the world in general, so here are the four best things about her.
1. Gaycation
An amazing series where Page and her best friend Ian Daniel travel across the world to meet with LGBTQ activists, individuals, and opponents. She makes wonderful connections with people and teaches the audience about the burgeoning LGBTQ communities in many places while depicting how there is still so much room to grow.
2. Her wife and her dancing
Page is married to Emma Portner, a dancer and choreographer trained at The Ailey School. Her and Page are wonderful artists who met over Instagram, so we all have hope. Also if you are interested in dancing, Portner teaches at Broadway Dance Center, which is super close to the Barnumbia campus.
3. Her other work
From Juno, to Kitty Pryde, to Ariadne, to Stacie Andree and more, Page has played characters that are all powerful and amazing. I mean okay, maybe in Inception, Ariadne’s only lines were questions, but her skill and heartwarming acting always comes through.
4. When she confronts politicians
Ellen Page is one of the best celebrities because she uses her influence for good. Page was filming Gaycation when she confronted Ted Cruz on gay rights at the Iowa State Fair, saying, “What about the question about LGBT people being fired for being gay-trans?” Whatever the topic, Page has got the back of activists everywhere for anything from trans rights to environmental racism.
