Dear Halle: Advice for Life in MoHi

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Columbia Barnard chapter.

Here’s installment one from Her Campus Barnard’s resident advice guru: Halle Liebman. We might not have Abby, but we do have Halle and she’s pretty great. To start, she answered some of our most common questions for how to do life on campus and in Morningside Heights. Read to the end of the article to find a link to submit your very own *anonymous* questions for Halle to answer in the coming weeks! Nothing is too embarassing, weird, strange, or uncomfortable for Halle to answer.

Question #1: Its Thursday night at 11pm and I’m on 112th, how do I decide where to go and when?

Go home.  See if the most recent episode of Scandal is up online yet. Thursday is SHONDA NIGHT! #Bless.

Question #2: I met a guy last night and we exchanged numbers, but he didn’t text me back. What do I do?

Everything I know about boys has come directly from my cat, Stanny.  Stanny is a real man’s man, and what he has taught me is that all men (and cats) are jerks.  So forget this guy who didn’t text you back and just focus on the more important things in life (like naps and the sweet, sweet taste of gluten).

Question #3: I can’t keep up with the subway changes on weekends. If feels like the 1 is never running past 96th. Do I walk, cab, or just stick with the subway?

WRITE A LETTER TO YOUR CONGRESSMAN/CONGRESSWOMAN.

In the mean time, I’d say walk it if you’re not in a hurry, or take a Gett car service up to 110th if you’re pressed for time. (Gett has a $10 flat-rate fee up to 110th street AKA it will be $500000 less than taking an Uber).

Questions #4: What is the likelihood I will get into senior night on a given Wednesday night?

Put on a gray wig, paint on some wrinkles, and wear an ill-fitting nightgown and slippers.  Wait, you’re talking about senior bingo night at the 92nd Street Y, right?

P.S.! You can submit your very own questions for Halle by using this link.
