Dear Halle: Farewell, Dear Followers

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Columbia Barnard chapter.

1. I’m not keeping K for P this year because it’s just too hard. Should I feel guilty?

I had to google this question because I’m a bad Jewess. But, no, don’t feel guilty if you broke Passover when you went to town on a warm baguette.  You’re probably already going to hell, so just embrace it!

2. I don’t have a formal date. Is it bad if I go alone or should I try to scramble and find one?

If you scramble to find a date and end up getting set-up, just be aware of the risks.  I’ve seen this play out 3 ways…may the odds be ever in your favor:

1)  Your date is incredibly uncomfortable.  He/she is standing awkwardly in the corner and avoiding eye contact with all humans. Have fun babysitting them for four hours!

2) Your date is surprisingly cute and friendly.  He’s talking to all your friends!  He’s so personable!  He’s so sweet!  He’s SO making out with one of your friends in the corner and you do not know how this happened and you really wish you could pull a Carrie at Prom right now.

3)  You’re one of the chosen ones!  Blessssssss…you and your set-up have a wonderful DFMO that neither of you remember the next day.  Everyone is happy, sparkly, young, and free!

In conclusion, if you’re feeling lucky, go for a set-up.  But, if you want to ensure that you’ll have fun, I say take a friend, a small kitten in a tuxedo, or your damn self!

3. I have to write 30 pages this week and don’t know how I’m going to do it. Any time management tips?

Well, it’s not very helpful that Game of Thrones is back. If you have to bang out 30 pages this week, you need to cut out all distractions.  I suggest locking yourself away from the rest of the world, holing up in some library for the week, and refusing to leave until you Get. It. Done.  May I suggest Low Library?
