Dig Inn Seasonal Market: The New Kid In Town

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Columbia Barnard chapter.
Rumor has it there’s a new kid in town, and her name is Dig Inn. The “seasonal market” chain just opened a new location in Mo’ Heights and is making a killing! Dig Inn offers a variety of sandwiches, salads, “plates,” shakes, snacks, and drinks. The market is committed to providing organic and healthy meals, and tries to use as much locally grown produce as possible. The meals are affordable and nutritious, with “no empty calories” as the restaurant explains it.

As a generous gesture (and promotional campaign), Dig Inn offered FREE
FOOD the first few days its doors were open. Columbia students went crazy for it! I saw a line down the block, even when it was pouring rain. When I went for lunch at noon, they had already ran out of multiple menu items! Although the crowd has slightly subsided this week, you’re lucky to get a seat.
I checked in with Dig Inn frequent customer, Emily Scherer (CC Class of 2016), to get her opinion on the new watering hole.

1. Quality of food: 4.5/5
2. Service: 4/5. “They are very friendly, but are a little short staffed/supplied right now because they just opened.”
3. Ambiance: 4/5. “Cute mason jars, can be a bit crowded during busy times.”
4. Perfect place for… “Great stop for grabbing a casual lunch or dinner with friends! Not too expensive, tables can be pushed together, counter ordering is really simple and convenient.”
5. Favorite menu item: “Sautéed kale and brussel sprouts.”
6. Tag line: “The quality of Milano and the seasonal diversity of the farmer’s market, with places to sit – you can’t go wrong!”

This place has big portions for small prices, a friendly and relaxing atmosphere, and a great location! In the middle of my meal, the manager randomly shouted, “Everyone feeling good?! If you have any concerns, please call me over, I’d be happy to help!” My only recommendation would be to dine at off peak hours: your meal is bound to be much more enjoyable. Or you can order online on their website! All in all, Dig Inn looks like it’s gonna be a hit. I look forward to seeing it grow and succeed. The market looks like it will compete with the popular food stops such as Milano, Chipotle, and Westside. For more information, visit the website at: http://www.diginn.com/home/. Happy feasting!
