Name: Daniel Morgan
Hometown: Pelham Manor, NY
School/Year: CC ‘16
Major: Financial Economics with a Concentration in Business Management
Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do on campus: I am one of six kids, have a (fraternal) twin brother and am a member of the Varsity Tennis Team and the Columbia Economics Review.
Favorite place to study: My room. On my bed. In front of my laptop. Watching Netflix.
One class you’d recommend to everyone: Intro to East Asian Civilization: Japan. I’m a huge history buff, and Japan is a country with a very long and rich history. Plus you get to learn about samurais and ninjas and stuff, which is cool.
Favorite memory at Columbia to date: Winning the Ivy League Championship last year.
Best kept secret about New York: If I told you, then it wouldn’t be a secret.
You wake up and see that all your Monday classes are cancelled, how do you spend your day? I want to say I would do something adventurous and exciting, but I’d probably just go to the gym, go to practice (which is never canceled, even during a hurricane, apparently) and then maybe catch a movie with some friends. I’ve been told Gone Girl and Interstellar are must-sees.
Favorite Season: Hockey season
One thing you’ve always wanted to try is….. Go on a cross-country road trip with my friends.
Qualities you look for in a mate: Ambition, sense of humor, nice eyes and, most importantly, ability to put up with me.
Celebrity Crush: Mila Kunis and Robert Downey, Jr.
Describe your dream date: That’s a tough one. I’d have to say April 25th. Because it’s not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.
Best date you’ve ever been on: New York Rangers game. Five fights, five goals and we beat the Devils, so it was pretty much perfect.
Best and worst pick-up line you’ve ever heard: I think there is a very fine line between best and worst when it comes to pick-up lines. One of my favorites, though, is “Kiss me if I’m wrong, but dinosaurs still exist right?” Another, which isn’t so much a line as a move, is the “Naked Man.” I’ve never actually tried either of these, but I hear the “Naked Man” works 2/3 times, so if the odds on the dinosaur line are anything like that, maybe I should give it a go.
Favorite social media platform? Instagram. I don’t post pictures myself very often, but it’s nice to see what my artsy friends can come up with.
PC or Mac? Mac
If you could have one superpower what would it be? Flight
Top 5 things you want to do before you graduate:
1) Win two more Ivy League Championships with the tennis team
2) Graduate summa cum laude
3) Go to Bacchanal
4) Pass my swim test
5) Get one of those Barnard sweatshirts (willing to trade for Columbia Athletics gear).
Three things you can’t live without: The three F’s: family, friends and food (and I guess water and oxygen, too).
