In spite of the Barnard community’s physical separation from the Morningside Heights neighborhood, there are still many ways to bring the community to your bedroom no matter where you are. The smells, depressing realities, and thrilling adventures can be brought to your humble abode in some way, shape, or form.
- Make homemade bagels
-
Although they may not have quite the same delicious doughiness of Absolute Bagels, they will make the homesickness for your home away from home a little softer.
- Make pizza
-
Koronet’s greasy pizza can never lose its position at the top, but homemade can come in a close second. Try to make the pizza extra large to see if you can beat Koronet’s biggest slice!
- Go to your local park and do your homework
-
Whether you’re sitting on the lawns or in Central Park, the fresh air is one of the best medicines for your brain.Â
- Facetime your friends
-
Nothing can equate to a real hug, but laughter can turn a rainy day into a sunny one.
- Put on your best streetwear and have a photoshoot
-
Not only will this increase your confidence, but it will also remind everyone of how stylish you are. Who needs the streets of New York when you can show your outfit off to your dog!
- Eat ramen to relive your dorm food staple
-
If there is an H-mart by you, visit their ramen section and try out the new flavors! Then find them at the H-mart on 110th and Broadway!
- Play youtube videos to mimic the constant sea of noise that one experiences in Morningside Heights
-
Nothing beats not being able to experience the peace and quiet of nature!
- Practice clearing your shower drain of hair
-
Although this may be a gross activity, it’s fantastic practice for when we’re actually back on campus.
- Have your little brother spray ketchup on you to emulate the wild experiences that can happen in New York
-
Every Barnard student has a crazy New York story. Now you can have a crazy quarantine story!
- Leave your computer in a different room and race to it 30 seconds before class to imitate the fear of running late for a lecture
-
The perspiration and increased heart rate will make you feel like you’re right on Barnard’s campus.
