How would you describe your style in three words?

Black. Black….Grey?

Who are your style inspirations?

I worked for a menswear fashion ecommerce site my sophomore year called ÉCOLE, where I got to work with and see various new menswear designers who got featured at the first New York Men’s Fashion Week. I think menswear is my current style inspiration. It has so much room for expansion and innovation. I like the simple yet athleisure-y style of brands like Public School and Common Project.

I also like following models and inspiration instagrams instead of brands for inspirations because brands usually showcase a certain product and are quite limited in scope. Some of my favorites are: @latenightinparis @nightlydrunklovers @milk @kimssung2 and @iamjessicagomes.

Where do you like to shop?

In a 400-person Java lecture class where I question WHY. Just kidding, but not really. Anyway:

1) Online—500% of the time. I recently found out about Misguided—cheaper but similar style to NastyGal and Urban, but their jersey dresses are the bomb.com.

2) When I want to “treat yoself” like Donna, my favorite styles are Theory and Lanvin.  They always have selections of simple silhouettes and nuanced color schemes.

3) Street shops in Seoul have amazing styles for amazing prices! Most of them have U.S. shipping through their online sites and are similar to nylonshop, eg) stylenanda, and Ashop.

What is a piece of style advice you live by?

Don’t be ashamed of the sale section #noshame. Literally don’t be. I am an avid fan of the sale section. I mean, I love high fashion, but I’m not going to be walking in NYFW in the near future, will not be attending the Met Gala with Riri’s pizza dress, and don’t think that I am justified in spending my parent’s money on those $$$$ clothes when I am definitely not making enough money to afford it at the moment. Sale sections are awesome—I like simple style, and you can always find a good simple blouse, shirt, moto jeans, etc. on sale. Also, it is not the price of the clothes, but how you wear it. Half of the time when I get asked where I purchased an item, I’m wearing a ten-dollar dress and or an outfit from the final sale section.

What style tricks have you picked up from living in New York?

Not every person living in New York (including myself and most people) is Carrie Bradshaw or Andy from The Devil Wears Prada. Don’t stress about not having a new trendy off-the-shoulder shirt or thigh high boots every day! Just go with your flow and create your own style. Trends always get recycled, so you don’t need a fab new piece of clothing to be fashion savvy and chic. Also, when having color dilemmas, turn to #50shadesofblack.
