House of Cards — New York Times http://nyti.ms/13VN0fO
The 65th annual Primetime Emmy Awards air this Sunday night and you do not want to miss them. Not only will you be out of the loop and not get the references your friends make on social media the next day, but you’ll also miss an incredibly entertaining night! No, I promise, this year’s Emmys aren’t going to be your typical boring awards show and there are several reasons why.
1. Neil Patrick Harris
Do you really need to hear more? NPH has hosted the Primetime Emmys before (and received plenty of critical acclaim), and he’s hosted the Tony Awards many a time, so he’s a seasoned pro at this kind of thing. Not only is he multi-talented, but he’s sure to make you laugh more than a few times during the show. It’s going to be legen-wait for it-dary.Â
2. The Fashion
Even before the actual awards show begins, I’m glued to the E! Network’s red carpet coverage, watching the stars as they arrive. Remember Nina Dobrev’s Emmys dress from two years ago (see below!)? Still one of my favorite awards show dresses ever. Hopefully, this year’s starlets won’t disappoint us. I love looking, and judging, the dresses along with my friend, Guiliana Rancic. Join us.Â

3. Netflix
For the first time ever, shows that were Internet-only, House of Cards and Arrested Development, are up for awards Sunday night in big categories – best actor and best program. This is a huge deal because it’s the first time broadcast shows have been challenged. It’s also a big deal for those of us who are emotionally invested in their Netflix shows (don’t act like you didn’t binge watch the 4th season of Arrested Development). Tune in to see if Michael Bluth wins an award.
4. In Memoriam
The Emmys will have their annual “In Memoriam” section, but this year they are including something extra. They are going to have separate tributes for James Gandolfini and Cory Monteith, among others, delivered by someone who knew them well. Edie Falco will honor Gandolfini and Jane Lynch will speak about Monteith.Â
5. Elton John
Elton John is performing! This is the first time he’s performed at the Emmys and even if you don’t listen to his music, it’s for sure going to be an entertaining performance. The over-the-top musician is paying tribute to Liberace. A HBO biopic based on his life, Behind the Candelabra, is nominated for 15 awards (woah).Â
Don’t forget to tune into the Primetime Emmy Awards, Sunday night, September 22nd, on CBS at 8/7c! You don’t want to miss it!
