6 Things To Do in Chicago This October

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Columbia Chicago chapter.

October is one of my favorite months. The air gets colder, the drinks get warmer, and the clothes get cuter. I find myself looking forward to seeing the leaves on the ground and the days getting shorter- and there’s just something about being inside while it’s cold, outside.

Even though nothing sounds better than retreating to your warm bed with your favorite blanket to watch Friends while drinking a pumpkin-spiced latte, here are 6 events happening in Chicago this October that you should get out of bed for.

1.     Open House Chicago

What is it?

Open House Chicago is my best-kept secret- except it’s not really a secret because I tell everyone I know to go. Imagine you have just been given a key that unlocks every building in Chicago that you have always wanted to go in but can’t. Open House Chicago is that key. During the weekend it runs, you have access to over 200 of Chicago’s most exciting and mysterious buildings that are normally not open to the public. The event has a handy website that shows all of the buildings to choose from and even helps you create your own itinerary for the weekend.
