Long commutes, be it for school or for work, can be tiresome. If you’re looking for a way to spend your time productively but don’t want to spend money on audiobooks, podcasts are a great alternative. Podcasts on the Podcast Player app are free. There are a myriad of options, and once you download the app it’s easily available at your fingertips. As you branch out and try listening to podcasts, here are some of my suggestions.
If you’re looking for that early morning laugh or that rush hour relief, try listening to The Read or 2 Dope Queens. The Read is run by two bloggers, Kid Fury and Crissle, and they talk about pop culture in a hilariously irreverent way. They’ll have you laughing so hard, people might start staring. 2 Dope Queens is a live comedy show in Brooklyn hosted by BFF’s Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams. If these two women can’t make you laugh, surely anyone of their numerous guests probably can.

If you like reading but just don’t have time to get around to picking that book up, one of the most popular podcasts out there with great stories is Serial. This podcasts unfolds one true story over the course of a season. It’s like Netflix…for your ears. Each week, the host—Sarah Koenig—will read the next episode. Episodes are released on Thursday morning.
For all those ambitious language learners, there are various language learning podcasts for you as well; ranging from Spanish to Korean. Duo Lingo, the language learning app, has added podcasting to their resume. In this podcast, they deliver real-life stories in the foreign language being offered with English narration. Another language podcast that is sure to help you meet those speaking goals is Coffee Break.
