Best Halloween Costumes for Your Major

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Conn Coll chapter.

Start getting excited Camels, because Halloween is just one week away! Stumped about what to dress up as this year!? Fear not, ladies, because your major can provide you with great inspiration for a costume! Here are ten popular majors for Camels across campus, and totally achievable costume ideas that will be sure to represent your interests and passions!

1. English – Daisy from The Great Gatsby

Because “that’s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool”!

2. Classics – Aphrodite

Now is the time to unleash your inner Camel goddess of pleasure, beauty, love, and procreation that you’ve been waiting to show off to the world! You’ll look so good, it’ll be spooky.

3. Environmental Science – “Go Green”

Your shopping list: green shoes, green knee socks, green shirt, green skirt or shorts, black Sharpie marker to draw a recycling symbol. +5 bonus points if you slather on some green face paint. Green girl, you are an inspiration to us all!

4. Art – the Mona Lisa

Walk around the whole night smirking like you’ve got a secret and wear a long dress. If possible, do your makeup so you look a tad jaundiced. Don’t smirk for too long though or people may begin to speculate… but whatever, haters gonna hate! *shrug* You do you, Mona Lisa, you do you.

5. Economics – Makin’-It-Rain Cloud

Do this http://ohhappyday.com/2012/10/fluffy-white-cloud-costume/ and then tape dollar bills all over it. Oh, and be sure to give your friends some advice beforehand: better grab an umbrella–they’re gonna need it!

6. International Relations – the United Nations

Pop on a United Nations T-shirt (you can purchase it online) with Dutch-Style clogs, red and gold bracelets (colors which symbolize good fortune in Chinese culture), and line your pretty peepers with Kohl eyeliner (commonly used in South Asian and Middle Eastern countries). Look at you, being all cosmopolitan and cultural!

7. Chemistry – (Couple’s Costume) Uranium and Iodine

If I could rearrange the periodic table, I would put U and I together!

8. French – Parisian-Chic

Follow this checklist and you’ll be sure to make the boys say “Bonjour!”:  Beret slightly off center on your head? Oui. Moleskin notebook in your purse for that I-am-very-artsy-and-highly-intellectual vibe? Oui. Striped boat-neck three-quarter-length-sleeved shirt to flaunt your fabulous collarbones? Oui, oui, and oui!

9. Film Studies – Audrey Hepburn

The queen of the Big Screen, Audrey Hepburn is the ultimate glamor girl. Put that naughty nurse costume aside this year, and opt for a tastefully flattering black dress, long satin gloves, and prime your hair in a top knot for a look that says “I’m classy and I know it!”

10. Dance – The “Dancing Queen” From That Song by Abba

♫ “You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life/ See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen” ♫

Have a clever and creative Halloween, Camels!

Brooke loves being a bookworm and listening to bands you've probably never heard of. *smirks* She is an English major with a concentration in creative writing who aspires to either work at a fashion magazine or become a college professor for creative writing/English. Cake decorating and baking in general are her favorite things in life besides her pug dog who is her main man. One day she'll marry Holden Caulfield, and they will live happily ever after!!!!! Oh, fun fact: She has her real estate license so if you need to buy a house or apartment, she's your woman. xx
