Cupcakes and Cashmere has always been one of my favorite blogs, and when I saw the tea bag valentines that writer Emily Schuman made last week, I knew I needed to try my hand at my own interpretation of these great little gifts.
Tea bags are an awesome neutral valentine when you think about it: they’re useful, definitely not boring, creative, and can easily be handed out to friends, moms, and other loved ones. I recruited my friend Kaitlin, gathered a few basic supplies at Target, and set out to make my own tea bags.
Our finished product didn’t come out looking exactly like Ms. Schuman’s, but I actually kind of prefer the rustic look of our bigger stitching, and the tea/valentine pun on the tag is a nice touch. Here are a few steps that should help you make your own. Happy crafting!
This craft calls for really basic supplies: loose leaf tea, coffee filters, needles, thread (or twine if you prefer), scissors, colored paper, and pens.Â

Last but not least, Instagram your newly crafted tea bag. Because, let’s be real: if you do a craft and don’t Instagram it, it didn’t really happen!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
