Looking for a way to make some cash on campus? There are plenty of opportunities! Here are some of our on-campus jobs and why we love them:

I work as the Student Programming Coordinator at Conn’s Student Accessibility Services, which has allowed me to become involved in new areas on campus! I work alongside two other Conn staff members and have gotten a behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations of the office. I also collaborate with other offices in the Division of Institutional Equity and Inclusion to create awareness campaigns and host events, highlighting the intersectionality of gender, sexuality, race, and ability.

I work as a circulation desk assistant at Shain Library, and it has helped me build my customer service experience which has been useful when applying to internships and jobs. I work there around 5 hours a week, and because of the job I was able to learn how to find books at the library which has been super helpful when it comes to doing research for my classes. Other students who work there are super understanding when someone needs a sub for their shift.

My jobs at Conn have been one of my favorite aspects about campus! I am a tour guide which has given me the opportunity to connect with prospective students and families and talk about why I love Conn for a few hours every week. I have had so much fun working in Admissions, and can’t wait to continue. I also work as a Writing Center Tutor in our Academic Resource Center. This has challenged me and improved my own writing skills. Through this job, I have gotten the chance to connect with Conn Students I haven’t met before, and hear about a variety of classes. This job has refined my analytical and synthesis skills. Finally, I have gotten to be a Student Advisor Coordinator for our Orientation program! I get to work with the Student Advisors of the class of ‘25 and organize activities for the incoming first year students. This job has allowed me to meet new people and expand my boundaries on campus. Through the small pool of Conn, I have gotten to work in many different arenas and expand on a variety of my interests.

I recently began working as a writing center tutor in the Roth Writing Center this semester.  As a tutor I meet new peers while simultaneously learning about new academic subjects. I have tutored students who are working on papers for a variety of different disciplines, so reading their papers has allowed me to learn something new. This job has also challenged me and pushed me to develop my writing, critical thinking and communication skills. I recommend becoming a writing center tutor and also, of course, making appointments at the writing center!

On campus, I work as a Student Advancement Manager through the Annual Giving Office. I oversee calls to alumni and parents, spread awareness about philanthropy, attend alumni events, and hand out a lot of Conn Swag (follow our Instagram @ccphilanthropy)! Additionally, I am a Peer Tutor for the Introduction to Statistics course, and I hold open office hours for students a couple hours every week. My first year, I was also a Community Tutor for the Holleran Center, tutoring high school students in New Haven, CT, in a virtual format. There are plenty of ways to get involved, build career skills, and make some cash on campus!
