We all have those comfort movies that we can turn to if we are bundled up inside on a rainy day, if we’re bored on a long flight, or if we need something to cheer us up. Time and time again I turn to Pitch Perfect. This comedy never fails to make me laugh, the catchy songs are just as entertaining as ever and don’t get me started on Jesse. So why is it exactly that Pitch Perfect is always a crowd pleaser?

  1. The songs

The variety of throwback songs and 2012 pop hits allows everyone, whether young or old, to sing along. I find myself listening to the soundtrack, especially the riff off, when I need some hype-up music whether I’m on a run or on a long drive. Since Pitch Perfect was first released, my mom has exclusively played the soundtrack whether we’re baking or cleaning or on family road trips.

  1. Sisterhood

Although there is a love story between Jesse and Beca, the true love story is that of the Barden Bellas. The plot focuses more on the relationships between the girls and how this grows and changes over time. It is heartwarming to see the bond between the Bellas and how these girls overcome their differences for the sake of a capella.

  1. Humor

Although cheesy, the jokes never fail to make me laugh. From the few, but dark, phrases Lilly says, to the aca-puns, to the commentators bit during the performances. I continuously find myself quoting the movie at all times–I can never seem to forget these iconic lines. It’s impossible to sit through Pitch Perfect without laughing during nearly every scene.

All in all, Pitch Perfect is a phenomenal movie. It never fails to entertain me, the jokes never get old and I could watch Jesse forever. But mostly, I love sharing my love for Pitch Perfect with my friends and family. It is the perfect movie to watch with the people you love and sing your heart out to, even if you are tone deaf like Justin. So the next time you are in the mood for a movie, put on Pitch Perfect!
