Picking a major is a tough decision in all college student lives. How do you decide what you want to do for the rest of life at the age of 18? I know I struggled.
Â
At first, I wanted to be a psychology major, but then I had an engineer come speak to my college calculus class in high school and explain how hard it was to get a job with just a psychology degree. Â
Â
Uh Oh. I was in big trouble trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I then declared my major as Biological Sciences. I thought this major outcome would be awesome for me as I wanted to enter the medical field, but then I was given the 4 year course outline and realized this major was a no go for me.
Â
In trouble again!
Â
My roommate had just declared Health and Exercise Science. I had never heard of this major before so I decided to check this major out at an informational meeting with the department advisors.
Â
I decided I absolutely loved it! The courses seemed all so interesting and intriguing as well. I am now a 2nd year studying health and exercise science and I cannot wait to see where I end up after graduation with this degree.
Â
My advice is to not worry so much. Try different classes in different departments and see what works best for you. Your major will come to at some point and it will be the absolute perfect one.
