Being a girl isn’t easy, that’s for sure. SO much is often expected of you, or at least that’s what it feels like. We all feel pressured to be the best at everything and it shouldn’t have to be that way. Often times the pressure to be perfect gets the best of us and leads us to have low self-esteem. No girl should have to feel like they’re not good enough; we all deserve to feel good about ourselves. Here are a few ways in which you can maintain confidence and reassure yourself that you ARE indeed good enough.
STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS
Nothing good ever comes from worrying about what others have. If someone has perfect hair, good for them. If they have the perfect body, good for them. Just because someone else has good traits doesn’t mean that you lack them. Perception if everything. Embrace what you have while still admiring what others have.
Next time you see a person you deem more attractive than you and start to feel bad about yourself, remind yourself that just because they are attractive doesn’t mean that you’re not. You may have heard this many times before but, everyone truly is beautiful in their own way.
EMBRACE YOUR FLAWS
This kind of goes with the first point. In order to be confident with what you have, it’s important to realize who you are as an individual (both physically and characteristically) and accept that you have flaws. Whether your flaws are big or small accept them because they are what makes you unique.
There is not a single person in the world that does not have flaws. Everyone has flaws. But the way you act upon your flaws reflects on yourself image. If you embrace your flaws, and let others know that you aren’t perfect but you’re okay with that, then others will learn to embrace them too. So when you look in the mirror know that you are perfectly flawed and that that is true beauty.
LOVE YOURSELF
This one’s a big one. You ALWAYS need to be your #1 fan. There are plenty of people out there who are constantly going to judge you on your appearance and how you act, but it’s your job to be confident enough to be able to take in what others say, and continue to feel great about yourself. I know this is easier said than done but it’s important to keep in mind that people can be mean and they can say hurtful things, but that only reflects on their character not yours.
Know your worth, and know that you are beautiful in your own way.
STAND PROUD
You may not even be conscious of this, but your stance and posture says a lot about how confident you are at any given moment. If a person is sitting up straight or standing tall, they give off the vibe that they know what they’re doing and they aren’t afraid to draw attention to themselves.
Next time you’re walking around campus, or any public place, make sure to stand tall and keep your chin up! This is such a simple way to boost your self-esteem.
TREAT YO’SELF
In order to *most importantly* feel and, also, look great, it’s important to take the time for self-improvement. Go to the gym. Put on a face mask and enjoy the Bachelor or whichever show you’re loving at the moment. Buy yourself a tub of ice cream and grab a spoon, dig right in.. Go get your nails done. Do all the little things for yourself and you will notice a better you, all for you.
SET A GOAL AND GET THERE
Not much else to say for this one as it’s pretty self-explanatory. Find something that you would like to improve on and work hard to improve it. Whether you want to work on your fitness routine or you hope to get better grades this semester, set the goal and work your way to it. Watching the progress that you make along the way is satisfying. It helps you understand that you can do anything that you put your mind to, and along the way you gain self-confidence.
GET YOUR MESS TOGETHER
Life isn’t so pretty when you’re a hot mess. Sure, you may physically look good while being a train wreck, and that top knot totally hides your unwashed, greasy nest of hair, but life is so much better when you have your life put together.
An easy way to do this? Buy a planner! Planners make life a million times easier. They’re good for helping you keep up with meetings, homework, and all your day-to-day tasks.
Another way to organize yourself? Tidy up your room! Do your laundry consistently. Walking into a messy room is stressful and that’s the last thing you need when you’re trying to do homework or get your tired butt to bed.
