Do-
Wear Green
This is kind of a given. We all know that those sneaky leprachauns pinch harder than the average Joe. Especially if they’re in a frat, and have been celebrating the holiday since they got out of bed this morning. Anyways, wearing some type of green is a must. It doesn’t always have to a tacky t-shirt that has shamrocks all over it, (although I’m not saying you shouldn’t wear that) because there are too many shades of green to put together a cute outfit that isn’t “St. Paddy’s day cliché”.
Ways to Look your Best
-
Go to Target and go all the way back to the Men’s section. They have way cuter holiday wear than the ladies. If you cruise over to the craft section, you can find cute green accessories that you can also wear out this year.
-
If you’re going for a cheaper alternative, green washable marker shall do the trick. Draw a cute little shamrock on your cheek and – BOOM – you’re festive. If you’re feelin’ extra crazy, go to Michael’s and pick out some green and gold glitter. Give a generous dump over your head, or sprinkle, and you’ll instantly look like you just hopped out of that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
-
American Apparel is always a great place to go for solid colored clothing items. If you’re closet is lacking of green, I am sure American Apparel could solve your problem. This is a great place to go if you still want to look cute, but could also potentially wear the same clothes to class. Key word: potentially.
Don’t-
Dress up as a ‘sexy’ Leprachaun
I think enough has been said about this subject.
Do-
Go Out and Meet New People
Since CU is known to celebrate this lovely holiday all day long, go out and meet some new friends! With a student population of over 40,000, you’ll have endless opportunities. It’s always a different scene when going out on the Hill during the day, so take advantage of it! Make an effort to surround yourself with a new and exciting crowd, who knows what you’ll get out of it. ☺
Don’t-
Overindulge
While you should definitely enjoy yourself, there is definitely a line that shouldn’t be crossed. Don’t be that gal that’s occupying the restroom for the entirety of the party. St. Paddy’s Day is supposed to be fun, and one that you should remember. Value the time that you have with your friends, and avoid that line girl.
Do-
Indulge in Traditional (or Not So Traditional) Irish Food
Traditional Irish Food:
-Conor O’Neill’s is as Irish as it gets in Boulder. The pub is located at 1922 13th Street and offers Brunch, Lunch, and Dinner. Fun fact: They also have happy hour daily from 3-7pm.
Not So Traditional Food:
-A big a** bowl of Lucky Charms. ‘Nuff said.
-Mint Chocolate Chip Brownies: Recipe found here: http://www.prettymyparty.com/andes-mint-chocolate-brownie-recipe/
-Go on over to Micky D’s and get yourself a limited edition Shamrock Shake. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, that gives you all the more reason to hustle over there and get one.
-Mint Oreo Truffles: Recipe found here: http://www.bakerella.com/its-no-sham…these-rock/
With that being said, I hope all of you lovely ladies have the best St. Paddy’s day yet. Stay safe and have fun. We all know the Buff’s do it best on March 17th anyways.
