A Guide to Joining Her Campus CU Boulder (Spring 2020)
Hey, girl, hey! It’s Michaela, Her Campus Chapter Manager, and I’m here with a super exciting HC x CU article! First, I’d like to say from all of us at HCCU that we are wishing all of you a bright 2020, and we hope you all are having a relaxing and well deserved break. Throughout last semester we began evolving our chapter and developing new and exciting ways to reach YOU and bring you all the amazing content/articles you want.
As a team we are so excited to show you what we’ve been working on. Our chapter is looking for talented, hard-working writers, photographers, and content creators to join our team for Spring 2020!
Who are we looking for?
University of Colorado Boulder gals who enjoy writing, photography, or content creation!
Better known as YOU!
So, now you’re probably wondering, what is Her Campus CU Boulder?
Her Campus CU Boulder is a local chapter of Her Campus, an online magazine written by college girls for college girls. HCCU focuses on developing articles and content both specific to the CU Boulder community and for college-age women everywhere. Whether you like to write serious articles about current events or just want to create an article on how you feel about finals, Her Campus is the perfect place to create and publish your content.
But Her Campus isn’t just a place for writers, it’s a place for photographers, graphic designers, and content creators of all kinds. Her Campus CU Boulder is a place for ambitious, badass women working to improve themselves and the community around them.
Her Campus is all about girls supporting girls— we are a safe and empowering place. The women of HCCU work hard to cultivate a diverse, welcoming, passionate, and inspiring community. We have team bonding events, tabling events to recruit new writers, and work alongside other organizations and groups like the Women’s Resource Center, Buffs for Body Positivity, Victoria’s Secret PINK CU Boulder reps, and many more.
Currently, Her Campus CU Boulder is operated by Grace Smith Rojas who serves as Chapter President, Pranathi Durgempudi who serves as Editor-in-Chief, Maddy Atwater who serves as our Vice President of Chapter Branding, Talia Eaton who serves as Vice President of Events, and Michaela Richmond (hey, that’s me!) who serves as Chapter Manager. Grace Smith Rojas and Pranathi Durgempudi are currently recognized as our Her Campus CU Boulder Campus Correspondents by Her Campus HQ.
What should I expect as a chapter member?
As a member of our chapter, you will be added into one of our content teams. Our content teams range from fashion to politics and more. As a member of our chapter we ask you to write 2 articles per month (1 of choice and 1 for your content team), but most of our girls end up writing more than that! For other non-writing content creators, you’ll help create images/content for our writers’ articles and our social media teams, take photos at events, and any other projects you’d like to take on.Â
As members of our chapter we also ask that you attend our weekly meetings and at least one on campus event. Don’t worry about remembering all of this! You’ll receive a handbook of everything you need to know and our chapter contract once you start on with us.
By joining Her Campus CU Boulder, not only will you be expanding your writing, content creation, communication, and networking skills, but you’ll build friendships that will last well beyond your college years and have memories you’ll never forget!
When does the recruitment period begin and end?

What to expect when you apply:
As we evolve as a program our application process evolves too. This round, we will have two sections of the application. Similar to previous years the first portion of the application will allow us to get to know you a little, like any other application would. The second portion of the application will allow you to show us how creative you are through either writing, photography, graphic design, etc.Â
We welcome all levels of writing and content creation from beginners (like I was) to gals who have been writing for years. Keep an eye out for the link to our application!Â
Where can I get updates about the application and more information about HCCU?
Be sure to follow us on all social media platforms for more updates in the coming weeks!
