Finally a burger joint opens up on the busy University Hill at the University of Colorado campus in Boulder. The Hill offers an array of cuisine from multiple sushi, Mexican, and pizza restaurants and now America’s trademark… the burger. One University of Colorado student says it’s the closest thing that Colorado has to the famed Californian chain In n’ Out.
But Five Guys isn’t your average burger joint. Not only do they offer vegetarian options, but all Five Guys products are trans-fat free, and in a place like Boulder, this truly counts. All of their fries and burgers are cooked in peanut oils rather than vegetable oils, providing a richer flavor. Customers are reminded of this authenticity when they walk in and are greeted by free peanut samples sitting on top of mounds of potato sacks.
Another way Five Guys breaks the mold, is by showcasing the fresh potatoes used for their delectable fries. They do so by displaying the bags of potatoes within full view of customers. Periodically, Five Guys employees will appear, grab a sack of potatoes and disappear into the kitchen. This engenders a unique and genuine experience not typically associated with fast-foodesque restaurants, where ingredients are primarily unknown. According to the Five Guys website, there are over 250,000 combinations possible when ordering one of their burgers. Try creating your own this week and support Five Guys in their twenty-fifth year of service.Â
