The midterms are underway, the Valentine’s day clearance chocolate has been successfully inhaled, and it’s time to prepare that body for your itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini in Cabo. 

Or, if you’re anything like me; your parents, liver, and wallet weren’t exactly on board with the spring break choice of all of your peers. 

So now what do you have to look forward to?  More tests to study for? A week at home in your empty house on The Hill?

Fear not, for you are in the ideal place for a perfect stay-cation.

Our backyard here at the University of Colorado Boulder is home to a plethora of activities that you could easily miss while spending what feels like days in Norlin Library and nights at Cosmos Pizza on the hill.  Now you are given a week to explore the flatirons, eat at some amazing restaurants, and really get a chance to wear those birkenstocks hiding in your closet, and I’m here to share some of those hidden gems with you.

 

Chautauqua Park

Location : 900 Baseline Rd, Boulder, CO 80302

Price : Free

About : You know that place you see on instagram all the time? It’s an actual park with some beginner trailheads that lead to the great views of Boulder.  You might even see a couple dogs on walks while you are there.  Make sure to snap a photo!

 

Hot Air Balloon Ride

Location : 10538 Arapahoe Road Lafayette, CO 80026

Price : Average $190

About : Yes, your childhood dream come true.  You too can be on a colorful hot air balloon looking over the beautiful hills and flatirons of Boulder.  Truly a once in a lifetime experience.

 

Boulder Theater

Price : Depends on the concert, but can range from $7 to $95

About : Right here near Pearl Street you can find some of your favorite artists coming to perform, just for you! Get ready to bust a move and get your groove on this spring break to artists like Joanna Newsom, The Front Bottoms, and Dazed and confused.

 

Humane Society

About : Not only are you helping animals in need of owners, but you’re getting the cutest play date for the day.  There may be a volunteer form you have to fill out, but playing with the most adorable, fluffy animals to walk this earth is most definitely worth it.

 

St. Julien Spa Day

Location : 900 Walnut Street Boulder, CO 80302

Price : $20 and up

About : Manicures, pedicures, scrubs, wraps, skin care, you name it and the St. Julien Day Spa has it.  The perfect place to relax, treat yourself, and really feel like the princess that you are.  Even if you are on a budget, you can pick less expensive treatments to make a package perfect for what you need while still getting the slipper and bathrobe treatment.  Make sure to look into getting a reservation!

 

Celestial Seasonings Tour

Location : 4600 Sleepytime Drive Boulder, CO 80301

Price : Free

About : We know you all have wondered what the peppermint room really smells like and what makes sleepytime tea so delicious.  You can find out on the free tour that brings people from all over to Boulder and even get some free samples of their popular flavors like Lemon Zinger, Sleepytime Vanilla, and more.  Pinkies up!

 

Mile- Hi Skydiving

About :  Your insurance might not be happy with you, but this will be the experience of a lifetime.  Enjoy the beautiful views from 18,000 feet above sea level.  They even offer group discounts for you and your friends to make a day out of a thrilling experience. Make sure to get the video so you can share it with all of your jealous friends and family!  

 

Netflix and Chill with yourself

Location : Wherever you want, the freedom is yours

Price : Free with a Netflix account

About : You deserve this time to just hang out, grab a snack, get on your comfy pajamas, and watch three consecutive seasons of Grey’s Anatomy.  Yes, Netflix, you are still there and will be until you are fully relaxed from all of your stresses until school hits again in a week.
