April has gone by so quickly, bringing the end of school with it, but there has still been time to pick up a few new tunes and reminisce on some old ones. In the month of April, I listened to some so many times that I became sick of them, and have many more to still hear. These are the top of the month:
“Tom’s Diner” by AnnenMayKantereit and Giant Rooks
Fave lyric: “And he fills it only halfway and before I even argue, he is looking out the window at somebody coming in.”
“Just a Cloud Away” by Pharrell Williams
Fave lyric: “We’ve all, of course, been there before. Been there crying, fighting the dark. Let good energy be your strong. Won’t get away-way-way-way.”
“Jim Jack or Jose” by Dani Taylor
Fave lyric: “Jose’s got me laughin’ and cryin’. Dancing on tables and buyin’everybody a shot in this place. Here’s a shot to better taste.”
“Woman (feat. The Dap-Kings Horns)” by Kesha and The Dap-Kings Horns
Fave lyric: “I’m a motherfucking woman, baby, alright. I don’t need a man to be holding me too tight. I’m a motherfucking woman, baby, that’s right. I’m just having fun with my ladies here tonight.”
“Off My Mind” by joe pÂ
Fave lyric: “I still put my hand around the headrest in my Honda Accord. But no one’s there to hold onto the wheel while I let go anymore. You’re every car that passes by. Everybody in the corner of my eye. But now you’re off my mind.”
“Until I Found You” by Stephan Sanchez
Fave lyric: “I’ll never let you go again like I did. Oh, I used to say, I would never fall in love again until I found her. I said I would never fall unless it’s you I fall into. I was lost within the darkness, but then I found her. I found you.”
“Looking Out for You” by Joy Again
Fave lyric: “This is a love song for a girl. Who will never know it’s about her. Know it’s pretty stupid. But I’m much too shy to tell her.”
“L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.” by Noah And The Whale
Fave lyric: “Working at a nightclub that was called The Avenue. The bar men used to call her “Little Lisa, Looney Tunes.” She went down on almost anyone.”
“Crimson & Clover – Single Version” by Tommy James & The Shondells
Fave lyric: “Yeah, my, my such a sweet thing. I wanna do everything. What a beautiful feeling. Crimson and clover. Over and over.”
“Fighting in the Car” by joe p
Fave lyric: “I’ve been hiding in my skin, and learning how to live in my head. Come cut out my heart. We’ll go driving in the dark, and start fighting in the car again.”
