“Come on, everybody and pump that ass!” isn’t something I ever thought I would hear my fitness coach shout in encouragement. But with the online dance-based fitness program, Naughty Girl Fitness, those are exactly the kinds of phrases you’ll hear from the instructors as you dance and twerk your way through various workout routines.
Founded by Janelle Ginestra in 2020, Naughty Girl Fitness combines her two passions—dance and exercise—to provide you with entertaining video classes that feel more like a party instead of a workout. What’s a party without friends though? Introducing your new besties (better known as the coaches):
- Janelle Ginestra is a dancer, choreographer, and creative director who has worked with artists such as Pink, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Bad Bunny, Pitbull, Halsey, and other various musical acts. As the founder and head coach of Naughty Girl Fitness, Janelle’s routines define “naughty” and are chock full of cussing and ass-shaking. While her workouts are generally more challenging (for me, at least!), she’s consistently hyping you up throughout the entire routine and pushing you to achieve your fullest potential.
- Rudy Garcia is a dancer and choreographer who was a competitor on Netflix’s Dance 100 series and has worked with artists such as J Balvin, Joe Jonas, Daddy Yankee, and Todrick Hall, among others. As a Naughty Girl Fitness coach, Rudy is celebrated for his “full-out” routines and spicy energy!
- Kira Leach is a dancer and choreographer who has worked with artists such as TLC, iyla, SZA, Michael Bublé, etc. As a Naughty Girl Fitness coach, Kira is well-known for her bubbly personality and playful workout routines.
- Miss Jazzi is a dancer and choreographer who has worked with artists such as Lil Baby, Ying Yang Twins, Jason Derulo, David Guetta, and many others. As a Naughty Girl Fitness coach, Jazzi is best known for her confident, powerful personality and her calming yoga routines.
While each of these coaches has their own unique, individual teaching style, they’re all equally encouraging and really make you feel special throughout the entirety of the workout. Along with these amazing coaches, there is an ever-growing catalog of classes and routines designed to accommodate all skill levels. Whether you’re craving a full-body workout or need to focus on a specific area like the upper/lower body or core, Naughty Girl Fitness has you covered. With seven different categories of class styles, there’s a mood or “vibe” for everyone:
- Sexy & Spicy: On those days when you’re really “feeling yourself” and want your workout routine to be just as hot as you are, the Sexy & Spicy series is a perfect choice! This category is filled with a variety of Latin-influenced grooves and bootylicious twerking classes that will make you sweat your ass off while shaking it!
- Spiritual & Deep: For those of us looking for a fitness course that focuses on strengthening our connection with ourselves and the Universe, the Spiritual & Deep class series is the perfect option! Routines like “Self Love and Inner Soul” and “I Deserve Love” inspire you to exercise your body and your mind, which can result in a more positive mindset and increased feelings of self-confidence.
- Lit & Crunk: Looking for a party? Congratulations, you just found it in the Lit & Crunk class series! As someone who used to take hip-hop dance, this category is my personal favorite, as routines like “Missy – L1” take me back to those energetic, fun-filled days I’d experience on stage and in the studio.
- Happy & Joyous: Sometimes you have those days where you can’t seem to wipe the smile off your face and want to keep the good vibes flowing, and in those scenarios, the Happy & Joyous class series is the way to go! With courses like Kira’s “Sunflower Abs – L2”, you’ll get an extra cheerful dose of those feel-good endorphins with your workout!
- Naughty Gentle: Do you need to squeeze in a workout, but your body is feeling extra sore? Naughty Gentle classes are the perfect way to keep yourself active, but with less intense routines that focus more on stretching and other slow movements.
- Naughty Mindful: If you’re interested in a mental health exercise instead of a physical one, Naughty Mindful are the classes for you! Whether it’s a sound bath course or a journaling session with Naughty Girl Fitness’ videographer, Brazil, this class series is bound to leave you feeling completely Zen.
- Naughty To Go: The newest class series, Naughty To Go, allows you to take your workout on the road! Just pop in your earbuds, and Janelle will coach you through an exciting walking and jogging-based course, complete with the occasional stretch and squat breaks to really give you that full-body experience.
I personally discovered this program during the pandemic and found it was a wonderful way to keep myself preoccupied while being cooped up inside. I was immediately blown away by how much more enjoyable these workouts were in comparison to other workout videos I had tried and I loved that some of my favorite choreographers were the ones coaching me through each routine. Then, in July 2022, I had the opportunity to attend the first live Naughty Girl Fitness event (coincidentally hosted in Denver, Colorado), where I was able to meet the coaches and other subscribers. There were some life-changing bonds that were built that weekend as we gathered in a group after completing our workouts and opened up about how the program had changed each of us. Most of us were hugging each other and in tears by the end of our shared stories, which really made the passion surrounding Naughty Girl Fitness that much more evident. It was truly a magical experience, and I will never forget how that weekend changed me and my life for the better.
With countless ways to tailor your experience to fit your own personal workout needs and the ability to access these classes at home (through a cell phone, laptop, Roku, etc.), Naughty Girl Fitness is an incredibly fun, reasonably priced, convenient option for anyone who doesn’t have the time or energy for a gym membership and I highly recommend giving it a try!
