It is officially March (2022 is FLYING by), which for me means Iâm mentally preparing for the return of warm weather and sunshine. Spring break is right around the corner, and summer will be here before you know it. So, it is time to dive into your spring (closet) cleaning and make room for new pieces. Spring is my absolute favorite time for fashion, and the trend lineup this year screams fun. We are definitely still seeing the influence of Y2K that took over 2021, but with some creative new twists. Here are the trends to keep an eye out for and rotate into your wardrobe these next few months.
- micro-mini skirts
-
The Y2K epidemic of the last year has brought micro mini skirts to the scene, and theyâre certainly here to stay. The hemlines are getting shorter and shorter and designers are taking inspiration from the 00s with fun, colorful patterns and low-rise styles. You may have already seen the Miu Miu pleated mini skirt that has gone viral, so expect to see similar styles everywhere soon.Â
- Bright Colors
-
Say goodbye to neutrals and pastels this spring because bright and bold colors are taking the fashion world by storm. We are already seeing lime greens, hot pink, and even electric blue all over the runways and racks. This spring is the season to stand out. I personally think this will set a fresh and fun tone for the next few months.Â
- Twee
-
I will admit, even I had to google the term âtwee,â but now I could not be more obsessed. Designers and influencers are embracing âbabyâ fashion with frilly socks, baby tees, mini cardigans, and more. I think this trend is so cute and has already been circulating for a while. Spring is all about rebirth, so the âtweeâ trend is perfect, in my opinion.Â
- Fringe
-
Fringe and I have a complicated relationship, so I am a bit reluctant to jump on this trend. However, western influence in fashion has definitely shown up recently, so I canât say I am surprised. If youâre a fringe-fanatic, youâll be happy to hear that the style has already debuted on a few runways this season.
- Oversized Bags
-
It appears that mini bags are on the way out. This spring, expect to see the return of large bags and totes. So far, designers have seemingly adopted a âbigger is betterâ approach to this idea. I have to say this trend is much more practical than teeny hand-helds that barely fit your lip-gloss.Â
There you have it! This spring is set to be an exciting showcase of bold colors, new twists on existing trends, and lots of Y2K influence. There is so much room for expression and creativity, which is truly the best trend of all.Â
