Well ladies, spring has official sprung (sorry for the cliché, I had to). But in all seriousness, summer is right around the corner, and with that comes break, barbeques and, of course, bikinis. However, instead of focusing on losing weight for this season of clingy clothes and short skirts, how about just shifting our mindsets to getting in tip-top shape? Well that’s where the Pure Barre technique comes into the picture.
In a combination of ballet, Pilates and weight-lifting moves, Pure Barre aims to tone and tighten every inch of your body. Found throughout the country, these workouts have officially kicked my butt more than a few times, but all for the better. After one class I could already tell I was totally hooked on their techniques.
Pure Barre was founded by a former ballet dancer and choreographer by the name of Carrie Rezabek who opened her first studio back in 2001. Since then, Pure Barre has expanded nation wide and has even been made into home DVD’s. The technique has gained popularity due to it’s fast results and injury-free exercises.
I highly recommend these classes to anyone sick of the gym. I don’t know about you all, but here at CU-Boulder people are throwing elbows to get a spot on an elliptical or a treadmill, and I would much rather have my butt kicked in a productive way! Upbeat, fast-paced music is the background for these revolutionary classes, and the instructors are all amazing at keeping you motivated to keep pushing through challenging exercises.
