Being vegetarian, part of my college search was finding which dining halls can accommodate my diet. Luckily, CU Boulder hasd many great vegetarian options, even with COVID-19.
- C4C (Center 4 Community) – Meal Swipes
-
Latin: The Latin station at the C4C on the main campus is practically a dining hall Qdoba/Chipotle. They have create your own bowls, tacos, and burritos with beans, cheese, veggies, guac, and corn salsa! This is open almost every lunch and dinner. Insider tip: you can get a tortilla on the side!Â
The Grill: This one is the hardest for vegetarians, but there are always options. Every day they have mac and cheese and veggie burgers as well as steamed vegetables and french fries!Â
Wholesome Field: The best option for a vegetarian breakfast as they serve oatmeal, yogurt with fruit, and bagels! If you’re smart about it, you can even make avocado toast on an everything bagel.Â
Asia: Asia (served during COVID on Tuesday/Thursday) has amazing spring rolls and potstickers that are vegetarian with fried rice. Make sure to set aside time as the line can wrap around the C4C.
Persia: Persia always has rice with vegetables and naan bread which can be a great side or snack! If there’s a long line, skip it and head to either the make your own salad or black coats.
Black Coats: My new obsession! They have Acai bowls between 11-2 every day and trust me, it becomes addicting. Just make sure you pronounce it correctly, “Ah-sigh-ee”.
- UMC – Meal Swipes
-
A great option if you reside in Baker or Libby as you’re closer to the UMC than C4C or if you are coming from a class. They have delicious salads, vegetarian chile, and cheese ravioli with canned or boxed water in the Alfred Packer grille.
- Will Vill – Meal Swipes
-
This food is great to mix things up if you reside on the main campus or as a great consistent meal if you are in Williams Village. Just wait until you visit the dining hall, this brand new building is stunningly beautiful. They have many options for vegetarians at the Italian station, Colorado hearth, and dietician’s meal of the day.Â
- Farrand Alley – Meal Swipes
-
This to-go order ahead meal choice is at the bottom of Farrand, a dorm on the main campus. It is perfect in between classes to walk over, pick up your food in a bag, and walk back to your dorm or have a picnic outside. For vegetarians, they have an amazing teriyaki and tofu bowl with vegetables and rice. You get one entree and two sides.Â
- CU On The Run – Meal Swipes
-
This grab and go option located in the C4C has many options for vegetarians such as cheese pizza, salads, and garden vegetable wrap. Or if you have a picky diet, they have uncrustables and other sides you can do four of.Â
- The Bakery and Starbucks
-
For your caffeine crazes, the main campus and Will Vill have coffee shop options for you! The bakery is located below the C4C and has yogurt parfaits, pastries, Naked smoothies, vegetable spring rolls, and traditional coffee shop drinks such as chai and coffee. The Bakery uses munch money (a limited amount of on-campus money you have on your buff card). The Starbucks located inside the Will Vill market uses munch money as well, but if you find yourself on the main campus and the Bakery has closed, Starbucks in UMC takes real money.Â
- Will Vill Market – Munch Money
-
The only place on campus where Starbucks is munch money. Save all your munch money for this mini grocery store as they have everything under the sun, including fresh berries and vegetarian miso soup! Just make sure not to spend all your munch money here!
- Weather Tech Market – Munch Money
-
This is great for late-night snacks as they close at 11:00 and you can order a meal or grab your favorite drink or chips here. They also have necessities if you forgot to bring them to campus, such as tissue and bandaids.Â
- Farrand Market – Munch Money
-
The Farrand market is a smaller Will Vill market, but better located if you reside in a dorm around Farrand field. Like the other markets, this is your junk food splurge center!Â
Overall, you are set as a vegetarian on CU Boulder’s campus in regards to the dining halls. Munch money or meal swipes, there are always great options that accommodate specific diets.Â
