Ellensburg is known for its beautiful sunsets and how its surrounded by multiple good ski mountains, trails to go hiking on, and lakes to go wake surfing on. Ellensburg is a goldmine for people who love to go skiing, hiking, dirt biking, etc, there is an unlimited amount of things to do around the burg. But if you’re new to Ellensburg or just want to start getting out more, I’m here to tell you about some activities and the best place to do them!
- Untanum Ridge Crest Trail
-
The Untanum Ridge Creek area is absolutely beautiful. You can hike (but it is known for being on the moderate side) around the Yakima lake and it makes for a good day trip. Also a very iconic picture site in Ellensburg for your classic bridge pics!
- Manatash Ridge TrailÂ
-
The Manatash Ridge Trail has beautiful scenery for when you’re mountain biking or just plain ole hiking, you just have to be careful for people who are horseback riding.Â
- Mission Ridge Ski & Board ResortÂ
-
Mission Ridge is a good place to go skiing or snowboarding. It’s not as crowded as Snoqualmie with everyone from the west side and to get a lift pass the tickets aren’t too expensive.
- The Summit at SnoqualmieÂ
-
Snoqualmie is another good place to go for skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing it’s just a bit more crowded than Mission Ridge. But they do a thing for students so they can get the college pass which is cheaper than other passes, we love a good discount!
- Yakima River
-
The Yakima River is a popular place to go fly fishing around Ellensburg, it’s not far and it has lots of different types of fish like rainbow, steelhead, and cutthroat trout.Â
Those are just some of the places around Ellensburg for people to check out and to explore around our beautiful city!
