As a queer person, Halloween is one of my favorite days of the year to express myself through funky costumes and wild accessories. Though no matter what time of the year it is, I’m always using fashion as an extension of my personality, Halloween allows me and so many other people in the queer community to express ourselves on a much greater scale. Because of this, I think Halloween is a holiday that allows for so much queer joy, especially for queer couples.Â
Here I’ve created a costume idea list for queer couples that want to be the shining stars of the party, but are lacking in the idea department this spooky season.
Velma and Coco Diablo (Scooby-Doo )
Unless you’ve been living a rock, you know Velma and Coco Diablo are at the very top of my list because of Velma’s recent queer story line appearance in the new Scooby-Doo Movie. I think this would be one of the BEST looks for this year’s Halloween, because not only is this couple actually queer, but extremely relevant in today’s pop culture. If you and your partner wear this to a party… I swear the attention will be on you guys all night and Instagram the day after.
Princess Bubblegum and Marceline (Adventure Time )
This is a classic queer Halloween costume- if you watched this show, you know deep down everyone was waiting on the edge of their seat for the series to make it official. I think anyone could pull these characters off with the right amount of effort and make a dazzling appearance at whatever function you’re at this Halloween
Jedediah and Octavius (Night at the Museum )
Honestly, I’ve only ever seen straight couples and friends do this costume, but I think it would make an AMAZING queer costume! The love these characters have for each other… unmatched. Bring that energy to the party!
Jennifer and Anita (Jennifer’s Body )
This one might seem like a stretch… but if you’ve seen the movie, you KNOW they’re on our team! I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone do this costume as a duo and it would be something fresh in the mix of reused costume ideas.
Princess Peach and Daisy (Mario Bros )
Are you really queer if you never played Daisy in Mario Cart? This pairing is perfect for the fem-queer couple who likes to dress up for the occasion. There’s so much fun to be had with the big flowing hair, poofy dresses, and jewelry!
I hope you enjoyed these queer couple costume suggestions, and hope to see some of these on Halloween night this year!
