The thing about dressing for fall in North Carolina is that the weather is different almost every day. Some days it is crisp, while other days the sun beats down and all you want to do is try and get one last tan for the season. So how in the world are you supposed to dress for this? Iâm a big fan of layers since they not only bring a look together, but if you get hot or cold you can take them on or off.
1. Socks
Wear them with flats, loafers, boots, sneakers, slides, or even sandalsâthere is no limit to the number of ways to wear socks with your favorite fall shoes. Not sure where to start? Try these fun and neutral enough ones from J. Crew.
2. Blanket Scarves
Is it a blanket? Is it a scarf? A shawl? A hat? I could keep going. I have two blanket scarves, and I cannot get enough of them. Insider tip: wear one when you fly as a way to keep your look polished yet comfy. You can use it as a blanket once you are in your seat.
3. Glasses
Anyone who has anything negative to say about fake glasses can goâŠIâm not going to finish that sentence. Even if you donât need glasses, why not join in on the tortoise-rimmed fun? You might even feel smarter in them.
4. The Beanie
I canât say that I have much of a beanie head, but that doesnât mean that Iâm not totally envious of any and everyone who can pull one of these bad boys off. Not only do you look cool AF in them, but you also conserve body heat. Itâs the perfect two-in-one accessory.
5. Scrunchies
Something about fall always gets me thinking about how cool college must have been in the â80s, making it the perfect time of year (IMO) to go full on scrunchie. Bring back the scrunchie. Look how chic HRC looks in one.
