As a freshman, there was a lot of hype about frolics, and in my opinion, it was well worth the anticipation. Frolicking, dancing, singing, partying, eating, and so much ~more~ for basically 48 hours straight was basically a dream come true. I couldn’t have imagined anything better. However, I wish someone had given me a few tips and tricks beforehand to make my frolicking experience even more amazing. So, here are my tips on how to have a grand ol’ time at next year’s frolics.
1. SUNSCREEN

SPF 100 is probably gonna be your best friend during frolics. I forgot sunscreen and woke up the next morning looking like a lobster – not my best moment.
2. Friday is fun, Saturday is better

Some people start their frolicking on Tuesday of Frolics week, others (like me) had to go to all of their classes on Friday. While the temptation to skip your Friday class is strong (and possibly worth it in some cases), Saturday frolics was 10 times more fun for me than Friday.
3. There are free t-shirts

No one told me that there would be free t-shirts….enough said.
4. It’s a marathon, not a sprintÂ

Take this advice as you best see fit….
5. You don’t have to go to every event

There are lots of events put on by many organizations during frolics and while they all might be fun, naps are also fun.Â
6. Wear your least favorite shoes

I spent most of my time during frolics at the Sig Ep house which was less of a house and more of a mud pit. My advice gained from this? Wear gross shoes that you don’t mind getting covered in mud.
7. Ubers

Don’t drive drunk! Ubering is an amazing thing for those of you who chose to have a bit of alcohol during frolics. Remember, however, Ubers cannot get into campus and your uber driver will call you from Main Street because they’re confused and lost and all they want to do is drive you safely to your destination.Â
8. Lock your door(s)

If you live on the first floor of any building, I would suggest locking your door. There are random people on campus during frolics who don’t follow the honor code so be careful of your unlocked doors, windows, and cars.
9. Fanny packs are back

In my opinion, fanny packs are literally the greatest invention ever. You can buy some very ~stylish~ ones on Amazon for very cheap prior to frolics and look hella cool while not having to hold anything in your hands whilst frolicking!
10. Be safe

We had a lot of transports to the hospital this year. Be smart. Be safe. Keep your friends safe. Keep your enemies safe.Â
