Thesis Struggles: Part Two

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Davidson chapter.

So, I’m still alive. Just barely. But that’s good news for you because now you get the marvelous pleasure of reading part two of my thesis struggles. We are just returning from fall break, which means that we are halfway through the semester. It also carries the message: YOU NEED TO BE HALFWAY DONE!! Am I halfway done? That’s a mighty fine question. The answer is sadly no. It turns out that I had to spend hours upon hours coding, sifting through user submissions on PornHub (it makes sense, I promise), and writing the first 8 pages of my final product. Let me share with y’all the questions I’ve been asking myself the since last we spoke:

1. Will I ever sleep again?

Amy Poehler always gets me

2. When is the last time I ate?

Catching them all is a reasonable excuse for forgetting to eat. Reading too much is not

3. WHY IS CODING SO FREAKIN’ HARD?

Courage always gets me. I’m pretty sure this is precisely how I looked throughout the entire process

4. Why do I still have 3 other classes?!

Did I mention I’m also graduating early? I essentially have buckets of free time

5. Will my brain ever work again?

Sometimes, I can’t even speak proper English because my brain died. Thank goodness for spell check

I do need to tell you that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I just got approved by the ethics board, and I’ll start collecting data by early next week. It’s all exhilarating. Honestly, it is. I do believe that I am growing tremendously as a human. Even if I keel over come December – after turning my thesis in, of course – I will die a better person who knows entirely too much about the effects of sexual stimuli on working memory.
