Because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our Her Campus chapter is banding together to raise money for breast cancer research. While we chose the Breast Cancer Research Foundation as our organization to donate to, there are many reputable breast cancer charities that need donations in order to continue their research. Each charity has an individual mission statement that outlines their personal goals. To make the process of choosing which organization to donate to easier, as well as to avoid donating to a low-rated charity, our chapter has outlined the five best organizations to donate to.
Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF):
This is the organization that our chapter has chosen to donate to. BCRF’s mission statement is to prevent and cure breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research. By donating to this organization, you would be aiding them in funding research to advance tumor biology, genetics and treatment. BCRF is currently the highest-rated breast cancer organization in the United States.Â

National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund:Â
This charity’s mission statement is to know how to end breast cancer by January 1, 2020. They specialize in monitoring how research funds are spent and expanding access to quality health care for all. They ensure that the advocates who are making decisions are trained to understand which choices are cost effective and will benefit the most people.Â
Breast Cancer Prevention Partners (formally Breast Cancer Fund):Â
Their mission statement is to help women by providing help and inspiring hope for those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services. They are the leading science-based policy and advocacy organization and are working to prevent exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation.Â
Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation:
Their mission statement is to achieve a future without breast cancer and improve the lives of people impacted by it now through education and advocacy. Their website outlines all of the research they have conducted in order to fully understand how breast cancer attacks the body and the best methods to prevent it. They emphasize that real people are affected by breast cancer and that they are not just a statistic.
Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation:Â
This organization was founded in 1985 in the memory of Lynn Sage, a woman who battled cancer for six years. Her friends created the organization as a vow to cure the disease. They emphasize that all donations are used to better understanding, research and treatment of breast cancer.Â
We ask that even if you do not donate to our fundraiser, you educate yourself on how to perform self-exams and choose an organization that resonates with you to donate to. The link to donate to our fundraiser: https://give.bcrf.org/team/320366.Â
