It’s happened to all of us at one point, falling in the trap set by the fashion industry. Celebs are photographed a certain style or suddenly you see this new type of dress in all of your favorite stores and they manage to convince you it looks great. The truth of the matter is gauchos were never in style and never will be, just the same as crocs or trucker hats, so here are a few current trends to avoid, despite what you’re told.
1. Sneaker wedges
Whoever decided a combination of these two types of footwear would look good did not realize the purpose of heels in the first place. They’re an easy way to dress up any outfit until you can hardly differentiate them from your running shoes. Just because they sound like a good idea doesn’t mean they are, and putting them on should be enough proof of that they aren’t.
2. Overly ripped jeans
You know the ones. These jeans have holes revealing essentially your entire thigh which is unnecessary and probably cold. It begs the question why you spent the money on them in the first place when they resemble a couple pieces of fabric barely held together.
3. Beanies in summer
A beanie can give a hipster vibe whilst covering up a bad hair day. It’s a win-win except when someone decides to put one on in the middle of July. As cute as they look, it looks a little ridiculous to walk out into the warmth of a sunny day dressed as though some drastic drop in temperature is going to spontaneously bring the fall weather your hat is begging for.
4. Timberlands
For whatever reason, work boots have become increasingly popular footwear among men and women. Unless you’re planning on doing hard labor, it looks strange to be strolling around in these especially when worn to class or out to dinner. It seems like their original purpose is all but forgotten.
5. Culottes
As comfortable as these are, they do not flatter anyone. They hang loosely and hide any figure you have. Just because some celebrities have adopted this look does not mean that you can pull it off. The truth is celebs can get away with a lot that others can’t, which can be hard to remember.
