Imagine yourself at a corner table in a cozy cafe, not waiting for anyone to come and accommodate the empty seat. A coffee or tea in front of you, probably your favorite dish, with a mesmerizing view that evokes you to think. With no devices in hand or a book to bury yourself in, it’s just you and the world in the background.
In today’s culture and lifestyle, one is bound to be surrounded by people for most of the day. Be it family, friends, acquaintances, colleagues or familiar faces, you will probably not have enough time to be alone. Young people fear not fitting in or being alone, so they limit the time they can spend alone during the day.
With the constant pressure to succeed, we feel fearful, leading to hectic lifestyles, and not feeling as connected to our loved ones as before. And thus, while we run on the roads of time and success, we find ourselves missing the shade of our own trees.
When we are left alone in a crowd without an escape route, we tend to panic or seek some other way to feel less alone. For instance, either we will try to find some company or indulge in some activity that will shift our focus. Nevertheless, with every problem comes a solution that you just need to consider wisely. So, here are a few ways through which you can be at peace with your own presence:
- Give time to calm your mind
-
Try to spend some time with your thoughts while sitting idle. You might start with five minutes and then extend to twenty minutes once you get comfortable. Avoid negative thoughts. If you cannot, it’s okay. Try chanting a mantra or something close to your heart. This may help you calm your mind.
- Date yourself
-
Once in a while, go out alone on a date with yourself, just as you like. Visit places you want. Try to feel your presence amidst the crowd. Stay and observe. This will help you accept your uniqueness, as you will find people from all around with distinct features and perspectives, with everyone being unique in their own way.
- Treat yourself
-
Treat yourself for every tiny moment where you feel proud for achieving something, being strong, or even standing still while the thunder of your fears roars.
- Allow yourself to process your emotions
-
Life is a rollercoaster of emotions. No matter how difficult our emotions may seem to process, we should all be able to accept them, take them in stride, and channel them into action without being too hard on ourselves.
- Be Healthy for yourself
-
Engage in some physical activity, such as yoga, running, or exercising. You will feel more energetic and alive.
- Bypass the comfort zone
-
Try to switch to doing some new activities from your usual routine. Zoning out can give you a different view and experience. At times, having a different perspective and outlook could help you look into your problems from a fresh vantage point.
With every season passing, let’s explore something new about ourselves. Let’s lose ourselves to be found again. Embrace your presence to the fullest because you will be there for yourself when the world seems to turn against you.
मौजूदगी तुम्हारी किसी जन्नत से कम नहीं,
बस इससे धरती पे लाने की देर हैं।
Your Presence is no less than heaven,
Just bring it to the Earth.
