Halloween: All Hallows Evening Recommendations

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Delhi North chapter.

There’s a  kid inside each one of us, the one who always believes in costumes, changing avatars, and enjoying the fantasies for a while by escaping reality. To become someone magical, or powerful, or scary, or beautiful feels as joyful as it sounds! If you ask Detective Jake Peralta about his favorite time of the year, his heart will burst out to say Halloween (okay enough with the B99)!

Well, the Halloween vibes are rolling around (October has really become our month to shine gosh). It’s time to embrace all spooky, scary, and pumpkin-filled things. There’s certainly something about all the black and orange, the ghosts, the costumes, the rallies, the parades, and especially Halloween party decorations which includes a set of cardboard cartoon ghosts that I taped to different places around the house, a honeycomb paper ghost with cartoon eyes (Mr. Boo, duh!), honeycomb pumpkins for the table, a printed vinyl tablecloth, and a set of black votive candles and their phantom fragrance!

Halloween has always been a holiday that pervades mystery, magic, and superstitions. With all the excitement, do you know the significance of Halloween? Back in the days, it was of the opinion that on Halloween ghosts came back to the earth, people thought that they would run into ghosts if they left their homes. When people had to leave their houses after dusk, they would wear masks so that the ghosts could mistake them as fellow spirits. Also, to avoid ghosts from entering their houses, people would place bowls of food outside their homes to conciliate the ghosts and prevent them from attempting to enter.

Halloween is the only time of the year when it’s chill to see monsters, ghosts, and goblins (or maybe dementors) walking around. Between the yummy candy and amazing fragrance of fall, being weird is an extremely amazing part of Halloween. I, for one, am ready to immerse myself in the fall activities!

Pumpkin Patches still tops the list when I start listing all the amazing things about Halloween. People who own Pumpkin patches truly share the same emotions to this holiday. They set up corn mazes, hayrides, and one place even lets you explore their entire firm. You can take multiple selfies and pics to post on Instagram with the hashtag #Halloween. Exciting, isn’t it? Don’t forget to tag us, too!

Tip: Take your time to pick your pumpkin. Finding the right one can be hard, but definitely rewarding!

I know everyone needs a Halloween playlist filled with all the classic spooky tunes. Here are a few recommendations from us:

This is Halloween

Thriller

Spooky Songs playlist by The Beatles

The Monster Mash

Play these tunes to stop everything that you’re doing or thinking and start dancing on them, because you know, that’s still the rule! If you totally want to get plunged into Halloween feels, we recommend you to listen to the podcast,  ‘Stuff You Should Know’, an incomplete compendium of most interesting things by Josh Clark, Chuck Bryant. Are you still looking for movies to watch? Because who doesn’t want to vibe max?! You can watch Hocus Pocus a thousand times without getting sick of it or checkout Halloween Franchise!

Certainly, whether we’re asking for romantic advice or trying to avoid seven years of bad luck, each one of these Halloween superstitions pins one’s hope on the goodwill of the same spirits whose presence the early Celts felt so steadily. It’s finally time to trick or treat! Get your costumes out and have your spooky decor done because Halloween is here!
