5 Things to Do in the Fall at Denison

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Denison chapter.

With the weather changing and the summer glow starting to fade, it can be easy to settle into winter blues.  However, the fall scenery is perfect for a few reasons, especially at Denison University.

1.     Visit Whit’s for their flavor of the week

Sure, Whit’s has been open all summer, but their frozen custard flavors get better with the season!  Try the pumpkin flavor to get really festive or something more subtle.  Classic vanilla always works, too!

2.     Check out the Mitchell Center

With the weather turning cold, the Mitchell Center is going to be the hub of activity if you want to keep moving.  After all, who really wants to freeze their fingers going for a long run over the ice?  The Mitchell Center has all kinds of opportunities, and if you’re really missing summer, there’s always the pool!

3.     Grab a Frisbee…

Or a football, or a soccer ball – you name it!  With the sweltering days of summer behind us, the weather is perfect to get moving outside before winter keeps us cooped up.

4.     Go for a drive

Amish country is nearby and with the leaves changing, it might be good to get off campus for a little while and see the country side away from the hill.  Roll the windows down and enjoy the fall breeze!

5.     Hike through the Bio Reserve

If you haven’t been out there already, the weather is perfect and the soft crunch of the autumn leaves under your feet will be a good break from the hard sidewalk.  It gives you the perfect excuse to get some time to yourself or to spend some time with a friend if you’re tired of hanging around the center of campus.

The change in season is perfect as the avenues for entertainment begin to seem old.  Enjoy the weather before the cold, snowy winter comes along and take advantage of it rather than being sad about the passing of summer.
