With the release of the Apple’s iOS7 operating system on Wednesday, iPhone users were in a hurry to find the closest wi-fi network and give their homescreens a makeover. Aside from the overall sleek look, here’s a quick guide to some of the most noticable changes in the software:
- Camera:Â When using the camera, you now have filters built in the camera app, as well as the option to take a perfectly square photo instead of cropping it later. Photos can also be organized by year or location of where you took them.Â
- iTunes Radio: Apple has finally come up with a response for the ever popular Pandora and Spotify apps. Select from featured stations or choose your own based on genre or time period to create the perfectly tailored radio station for your interests.Â
- Apps:Â Apps automatically update in iOS 7, making those with OCD rejoice by no longer constantly having red update notifications next to the App Store icon. App folders can also hold multiple pages of apps, which makes organizing apps a breeze.
- Control Center: Swipe up on your lock screen to reveal a handy control center full of options to switch your phone into airplane or do not disturb mode, control your music and brightness, or to have instant access to your flashlight, clock, calculator and camera.Â
The new software was released in conjuction with Apple’s two new phones–the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C–but if you don’t have plans to stand in line at your nearest Apple store anytime soon, the update works on the iPhone 4 and 4S and newer generations of the iPod Touch and iPad as well. Some have said that these new features have resulted in the older models of iPhones losing battery quicker and an overall slower runtime, but I have not had any issues with it so far, and I’m loving that it feels like I have a brand new phone!
