As if midterms weren’t enough of a slap in the face, Valentine’s Day is here to give us single ladies a slap in the heart. My advice? Stay in. Have a girls’ night. Don’t go anywhere unless you want to see couples and PDA galore. If you do decide to venture out into the land of love and kisses, make sure to avoid these densely (Disclaimer: there is absolutely nothing wrong with being single. More power to you if you are because let’s be real: who needs other people? But seeing couples everywhere as a constant reminder sucks.)
1. Eataly
Unfortunately this new hotspot in town is going to be flooded with couples trying to imitate Lady & the Tramp. Blech.
2. Bakeries. As much as I love a Sweet Mandy B’s pick-me-up (especially when I’m feeling alone), there is no doubt in my mind there will be couples lining up out the door. Maybe I’ll save my cravings until Saturday when their Valentine’s specials are sure to be half-price.
3. Movie Theatres. Valentine’s Day is like date night on steroids. And what’s the most popular date night spot? The movies. As great as Labor Day looks, I am not paying $10 to deal with spit-swappers. Not my style.
For all you ladies who do have dates, feel free to visit all the places on this list with your special someone. We’ll be sitting comfortably in our apartments with the two best men in our lives: Ben & Jerry.
