Bridget Donnelly is a successful sophomore and one of our Her Campus editors. She will be traveling to Northern Ireland for a May term trip to work with PeacePlayers International. There she will be assisting in basketball tournaments to help the continuous effort to bridge the conflict between the Protestant and Catholic Youth. Here is our conversation with Bridget about the team’s effort here on campus to fundraise for the kids in Northern Ireland. #FTK
Her Campus: Hey, Bridget! Thank you for meeting with me today. Can you tell me a little bit more about the tournament?
Bridget Donnelly: Hey Madison! We are hosting a 3 on 3 basketball tournament! The tournament will be this Wednesday, April, 12th from seven to nine p.m. Check out the flyer!!!! *note her enthusiasm*
HC: That is awesome! What are the proceeds going towards?
BD: All the proceeds are going towards PeacePlayers International! Our fundraising efforts has allowed the organization to bus kids from all over Northern Ireland in order to participate in this all day basketball event/ party!
HC: That is a great cause to support. What motivated you to get involved?
BD: As a Peace and Conflict Studies major, I truly believe in this organization’s mission. Creating common ground between children in areas of conflict is a great building block for community inclusiveness.
HC: Sounds like you are passionate about this issue! Will you be playing in the tournament?
BD: Great question Madison… I guess you’ll have to sign up to find out. *winks*
