Fall at DePauw
Stacey Way ‘13
From Fall weddings to Thanksgiving and Halloween, Autumn is a favorite season among many DePauw girls. There’s little that’s more beautiful than driving down 231 after Fall Break and seeing all the trees change to burnt red, deep orange, and bright yellow. Whether you’re a fan of Starbuck’s Pumpkin Spice latté or can’t wait to bust out the leather boots and thick sweaters, we all have our favorite part of the season. A rising trend this year is making the hike out to apple orchards and pumpkin farms. Anderson Orchards, located at 369 East Greencastle Road in Mooresville, has already become a favorite frequented by lots of DePauw girls this season. They have everything from every apple imaginable to pumpkins big and small, including the miniature “Wee-Be-Littles” and even raspberry bushes. If you find yourself sitting indoors and admiring nature’s beauty from a far, grab a friend and head over. Aside from the 150+ acres of beautiful walking, Anderson Orchards also has a concession-style stand in their barn that serves AWESOME hot cider, warm pumpkin bread, homemade candles, and more.
Toting pumpkins for carving or decoration, they’re an easy decoration as table centerpieces and front porches.
