Big shout out to Hannah Gardner, our newest HerCampus Celebrity, who was kind enough to give us an interview over Thanksgiving break. Hannah is a freshman on the women’s basketball team interested in majoring in either economics or communications. Besides basketball, she helps one of her teammates, Abby Keller, with her show Good Morning Greencastle and is a part of the SAAC committee. Hannah is originally from Indianapolis, IN but now lives in Winchester, TN and graduated from Bishop Chatard High School. Hannah is here to get us excited about her team’s season and show us her thanks for playing with such amazing girls!
Her Campus: Thanks again Hannah for taking the time to tell us about your basketball experience this year. So lets start off with why you chose DePauw?
Hannah Gardner: Not a problem at all! Well I chose DePauw because it seemed like a great fit for me, I’m sure everyone says that, but I knew I would be able to balance basketball, academics, and a social life all while being around well rounded people who have the same goals as me.
HC: Seems like you’re managing it though, certainly must be hard juggling everything so successfully! Speaking of basketball, how’s the season going?
HG: The season is great! We are undefeated right now. It is definitely a faster pace than high school and a bigger commitment but it’s been well worth it! I spend more time playing basketball than anything else in college but I’ve found a balance.Â
HC: Well you’re certainly off to a great start being undefeated and finding a balance in your schedule, you’re on a roll! What should DePauw fans look forward to this season from your team?
HG: It should be a fun season and fans should get excited because the team is reaching for the goal of another national championship! We need lots of support from our classmates and fans to make that happen though!
HC: That would be incredible, especially being a freshman! You must be so excited to be a part of such a strong program! Looks like it’s only up from here for this season! (we’re crossing our fingers for you ladies!)
HG: I know, I feel so grateful to have become a part of this team and I am already learning so much as a freshman! It’s an incredible opportunity for me!Â
HC: Oh I’m sure, it seems like this has been a great experience for you so far. What has been your favorite part about the season and what are you looking forward to the most?
HG: My favorite parts are game days and getting to know the girls on the team better. They are all so incredible and have made my time at school so memorable! I’m really looking forward to seeing how much we improve as we continue to grow closer together throughout the season. Expect big things from us DePauw!
HC: Well best of luck Hannah, I’m sure you’ll do great this year! It’s certainly an incredible accomplishment to have come this far and to be playing on such a strong and accomplished team. We can’t wait to see what you and your team have to bring to the court this year! Good luck ladies!
