Winter break was great but it totally wrecked my routine. For most of December I ate sugar cookies for breakfast and forget going to the gym. Being at home for the holidays made my schedule super unpredictable and as a result I am craving a consistant routine to start the semseter. I have lots of goals and am really determined to stick with the healthy habits that I am trying to impliment in my life. I want to go to the gym, start eating healthier, drink WAY more water, and take better care of myself mentally.
- Start a Habit TrackerÂ
-
This is something that I started over the summer, and I really enjoy doing it! It keeps you accountable to the habits that you want to start. They are super fun to make you and you can do it on any sheet of paper. I tried really hard on the one pictured above and I loved making it look aestically pleasing. Making this list also help me come up with a long list of habits that I want impliment this semster.Â
- Put Stuff Into Your ScheduleÂ
-
Once I got my classes and my volunteer hours into my Google calendar, I also added a workout schedule. It is going to be a lot harder to skip the gym if it is literaly on my calendar. This is also going to help me manage my time better so I can never use the excuse of being too busy to go.Â
- Get Your Friends Involved
-
One of the biggest reasons I get out of habits is becuase the people around me aren’t doing it. If my friends want to go get fast food or are watching TV instead of going to the gym, then it will be easy to just follow along with what they are doing. Try to find a friend that will go to the gym with you or skip fast food for a salad. Even if you can’t find a friend who has the same goals as you, at least get a friend who will hold you accountable and make meeting your goals easier!
- Buy Something to Get MotivatedÂ
-
The begining of the year is a good time to spluge on things that will help you keep your healthy habits. For example, I bought a new 32oz waterbottle to help me drink more water. My mom also got me some new workout clothes which make me excited to get out and go to the gym. Finally I decided to  get myself a new little mini blender (pictured above) so I can make smoothies in my room! All these new little items have me excited to keep up with my healthy habits.
- Don’t Be Discouraged If You Mess UpÂ
-
When you are trying to start a new habit you aren’t going to be perfect. Even if you wanted to go to the gym five times a week and only made it there three times, don’t get mad at yourself. If you are too hard on yourself then you are less likely to stick with it. So be accepting of mistakes and celebrate the times you do!Â
I hope these tips inspired you to start the semester off on the right foot!Â
