Music Man: Meet Wynter Gordon

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.

A lot of people would agree this winter has been rather brutal (who could forget the Depauwocalypse?), but music fans better brace themselves because there is another Wynter storm brewing planning to hit airwaves this spring. Wynter Gordon is the newest dance floor diva and she has been heating up the clubs all year long. This American songstress has been hard at work for many years building up quite the resume when it comes to penning hits for various musical acts, most notably working with for both Mary J. Blige and Danity Kane. She also has helped J.Lo with four songs on her upcoming seventh album due out this spring. Additionally, Gordon has lent her vocals to the overwhelmingly popular song “Sugar,” a hit single for rap star Flo Rida.

After dabbling in various music genres Gordon has finally found her home in dance music with her smash hit “Dirty Talk.” Gordon’s fresh voice paired with another amazing David Guetta beat captivates listeners and forces them to dance. The song is simple and sexy as Gordon lays down the law for potential suitors, “I am no angel/ I like when you do that stuff to me/ I am no angel/ I like it when you talk, [talk] dirty when you talk [talk].” She knows what she wants and she’s going to get it all the while making club goers dance until they can’t walk the next day. Easily the prelude to Rihanna’s newest hit “S&M,” the song went on to claim the number one position on the US Hot Dance Club Songs and just recently snagged the top spot over in Australia.

It’s been over a year since the single was released, however, it is clear with the number of rotations the track is receiving at the clubsthat 2011 will be a big year for Gordon. Her debut album hits stores this March: With the Music I Die. The Wynter storm is coming.
