This year has flown by even faster than the last, and I don’t know about you, but I’m not ready for all the shenanigans to come to an abrupt halt. I’m not ready for the “real world” of summer jobs and booked weekends. I want to live in the “here-and-now” of DePauw and our perfect little bubble. So I’ve devised a plan—and I’ll give you girls the room to expand. Follow this Spring 2012 bucket list and you’ll be sure to make the most out of your semester!
1.Get in that last Boulder Run
We all went on Spring Break and are still rockin’ those tan beach bods— why not show it off in a good old fashion DePauw tradition? God forbid you’ve never partaken in one of these, but don’t fret—that’s what these last few weeks are for! Grab your friends and strut your stuff.
2. Play Games
If you’re rolling your eyes at this one, hear me out. Remember the days when you begged your parents to let you stay at the park until dusk with all your middle school friends? And when playing monkey-in-the-middle rocked your world (such an underrated game, my friends…when you get into it, it’s fun)?
As for indoor play, ever heard of “The Game of Things”? It’s worth your time to drive to Wal-Mart and purchase it. Believe me.
Pump up your old soccer ball and dribble down the street. Let’s chase the sun down and squeeze every second out of every day. Grab a ball and your besties and walk around campus to see who wants to play!
3.Explore
Did you know that wholesome Raccoon Lake is a mere 25 minutes away? AND that you can rent a boat?! Yes, I know I just made your day. So start planning kids—get a big group together and rent four or five boats. Throw the ropes across to connect them and make your very own party cruise. Soak up those pre-summer rays, and don’t forget to bring your iPod to jam out!
4.Love Out Loud
For all you seniors, this is your last semester at DePauw. All those memories you’ve stockpiled into your four years here have been documented in late-night Marvin’s, walks in the nature park, crafting with your sisters, and exploring the world. What you have to do now in your final days is love out loud—after that last class on the most beautiful Friday, trek to Dairy Castle, have intentional conversations with new friends, do something you’ve never done before just because you love life and living it to the fullest. We’re all so blessed to come to such an amazing school filled to the brim with opportunities and great people. Let’s make the most of it.
