Your face is not the only place where acne appears. In fact, it can affect any body part that has oil-secreting glands and hair follicles, including back, chest, or shoulders. Back acne— referred to as “bacne” — can be particularly troublesome.

You cannot totally control whether you get bacne due to factors relating to hormonal changes and genetics. However, these in-bath methods below can help you reduce the chances of having bacne and get rid of them for a clearer and cleaner back!

Shower After Exercise

Acne results from oil and dead skin cells clogging your pores and creating pimples. Letting your sweat and dirt stay on your skin after an intense workout is likely to cause bacne. Thus, showering thoroughly washes away all the dirt on your skin and removes back acne.

Shower with Warm Water

Taking hot showers will dry out your skin and strip its natural oils, causing a breakout and worsening preexisting acne. Taking warm showers will moisturize your skin better.

Use a Bath Brush

Because the back is a hard-to-reach part of the body, using a bath brush can not only massage your muscles in those unreachable areas but also help wash and clean your back better.

Avoid Letting Shampoos and Conditioners Touching You Back

Letting shampoos, conditioners stay on the back without rinse off carefully can also contribute to back acne. One tip to prevent this is to clean your back as the last step of your shower routine.

Exfoliation

Using a body scrub containing small particles, like salt can reduce the accumulation of dirt and dead cells that clog pores—  the main cause of acne. Besides, exfoliating regularly will also help your skin look brighter and smoother. Therefore, this step should be done 1-2 times a week.

I hope this little change in your shower habits can not only improve your health and lifestyle, but also make you feel more confident with your beauty!
