So, we’re going back home… Now what?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.

Personally, I know I have so much trouble doing my school work at home. For those of us that have had the luxury of being on campus, his will be a difficult transition. Especially since we will be going home around the time finals are hitting. Since DePauw University already went through this last semester, I’ve come up with some ways to still succeed at home.

Get a Planner

This might seem obvious but get a planner or daily organizer. Make sure it will be something that you want to use. I also enjoy large calendars that can stick on a desk. Either way it is very important to stay organized.

Add Your Class Schedule to Your Planner

Once you obtain the planner, make sure to put your class schedule into it, as well as putting all of your homework to-do’s in it. Yes we will have less than a month left when we do go home but this is just to make sure you stay on task as a student.

Set Up Your Room

If you are able, set up your room as you would have it at school. Sometimes this tricks my mind into thinking that I still am at school. I like to make sure I have a set place to study and do school work–– it helps immensely.

Take Time for Yourself

Make sure to get some time to yourself. School can be very stressful and hard. It is easy to go without taking care of yourself especially when you aren’t out in public. But I challenge you to get up, shower, get dressed, and tackle the day that lies ahead of you.

Go to Class

Just because you’re at home doesn’t mean you can stop going to class. I know Zoom classes at home isn’t an ideal set up but it is still necessary and important to attend classes.

Keeping these 5 things in mind, I believe I had a successful semester last year. These are just some suggestions to how you can keep some organization in your life and still feel like you have control over your life.
