Lucky for all of us collegiettes, Christmas comes early at DePauw. With only three short weeks before we head home for the holidays, grab a peppermint mocha because there are twinkle lights to be hung, online shopping to be done, Christmas songs to be sung and best of all, one last big holiday weekend of fun!
Because dancing around any fraternity basement and singing (or screaming) with your besties to Mariah Careyâs âAll I want for Christmasâ is so much better when youâre looking both festive and fabulous, here is your go to guide to dress to impress this holiday season!
Ugly sweaters: A college classic. The ugly sweater is a must have for the holiday season. They come in many styles and colors so youâll be sure to find one that fits your personality! While sweaters are not necessarily the greatest fraternity wear because they are so hot, the holiday spirit of a Christmas sweater is hard to pass up. I like to find one that buttons down the front, that way I can wear it open to stay a little cooler and also leave room for something a little more form fitting and cute underneath! So raid your parents’ closets, check out some thrift shops (there are ugly holiday sweater gems hiding in between rows and rows of clothes), or get creative and make your own! The tackier, flashier, funnier, the better!!
Dresses: Maybe youâre feeling a little flirty or you just really like to dance around, a holiday spirited dress is a perfect for this party season! I find the holidays to be a great excuse to dress little more out there than you would any other night, this is why I suggest something with some sparkle. A metallic dress is even a good way to brighten up that ugly Christmas sweater!
Footy-Pajamas: Even though it âtwill not be the night before Christmas, and many creatures will be stirring, pulling on your Christmas footy-pajamas is appropriate this weekend. So zip up in your red-striped footies to come ring in the Christmas season!
Sparkles:Â Whether you want to be sparkled head to toe, or just glow with a hint of shimmer, addling a little glitter to your ensemble is a great way to make an ordinary outfit feel a little more festive!
Red and green: Not quite ready to commit to the cheesy holiday theme? Thatâs okay, incorporating a little red or green into your outfit will keep you from feeling too much like the Grinch that stole all the Peppermint Schnapps. Try keeping it classy in a little black dress with and a pair of red patent pumps.
All the toys and whistles: Bells, bows, reindeer ears and Santa hats are all great additions to any holiday outfit. Show a little Christmas love by accessorizing with the seasons finest. Accessories tell the world youâre out to have some fun, just watch out, fraternity men love to snatch those Santa hats!
It is the greatest time of the year, so dress up, enjoy and be marry, my DePauw fashionistas!
