From Catwalk to Campus: 4 Trends to Help You Revamp Your Wardrobe for Winter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Dickinson chapter.

Now that Halloween is officially over, winter is coming and that means you can revamp your wardrobe! Want to find fun, fashionable and cozy ways to change up your look now that there’s a chance of snow? Look no further, because here at HC Dickinson we’ve got you covered. Just because the weather outside is frightful doesn’t mean your clothes have to be!

1. Aspen Vibes

MANGO

H&M

Now that the temperatures are dropping, it’s time to start thinking about how to be fashionable and toasty. There’s no better way to fight off Jack Frost nipping at your nose than with a puffer jacket. I absolutely adored the looks at Balenciaga’s New York Fashion Week show (can you say 80’s ski vibes?!).

2. Vive La Trench

ZARA

MANGO

If you aren’t a fan of the puffy coat or think that winter will be mild this year, the trench coat is making a sweeping comeback! From Valentino to Lanvin, trenches were all the rage at NYFW. What better way to channel your inner femme fatale or Sherlock Holmes?

3. Tight Style

ASOS

Do you think that tights can only make a look drab? Take one look at Chanel’s NYFW looks and you might have to reconsider. Tights can make any look appear classy, polished and, best of all, are sure to keep you warm! I personally prefer to keep it simple and stick with black or nude, but if you’re more adventurous, tights are a great way to add a fun pop of color or pattern to any outfit.

4. Turtlenecks are Trending

TOPSHOP

Anthropologie

2016 is the year of fashion comebacks and the turtleneck is back in a big way! The turtleneck is the perfect sweater to keep you comfortable and chic. I loved this sleek and chic look at Loewe. Don’t be afraid to try out layering your turtleneck with a dress, it was all over the runways this season!

Now that you know what’s trending, collegiettes, you’ll be sure to keep fashionable and warm as winter approaches.
