Your first-ever exam for the 2019-2020 academic year is approaching. Not so long after that would be the midterms which cover quite a lot of learning materials from the beginning of the semester until now. There would be tons of pages to review so you might not want to leave everything until the last minute and start cramming in tears.Â
Â
So, now you have come to the decision that you would spend at least 3 or 5 days or even a week in advance reviewing all the concepts, homework, and labs to make sure your exams go as smoothly as possible. To help you to prepare you midterms even better, I am going to give you a list of places that I highly recommend to study on campus. The reason is that I had a really good experience with those places and hopefully you can experience the same thing as mine:
Â
-
Stuart Building’s Second Floor
Â
This is the best place for group study or discussion. You can see that black board and chalk are provided, which helps us to present our ideas easier. Also, there is one tip that I find really helpful when it comes to studying for exams: When you write down the learning materials, you can memorize them better. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s grab those chalks and start reviewing for your exams!
Â
One minus point: The seats here are full most of the time after school so you might not find your place to sit. When you come here during class time (i.e. in the morning or afternoon), you have a higher chance of finding your seat.
Â
-    Tome’s Library
Â
Tome Hall Library lies on the second floor of the Tome Hall. Sitting in this library, you can look out of the window, enjoying the peaceful scenes outside. Let’s imagine. You are studying for a long while and suddenly you want to take a rest. You can rest your body, calm your mind by looking out of the window while listening to your favorite music. After 10-15 minutes, your body can regain back the energy and be ready to go back to studying.
Â
-
Denny Hall’s First Floor
Â
Maybe you are a little bit introverted or just simply, sometimes you want to spend time on your own escaping from the daily rush. Then, let’s take a seat on a pillowy sofa in a cozy corner on the first floor of Denny Hall. When all around you is quiet, you may find it not hard to focus on what you are planning to do.
Â
-
Outdoor tables and chairs around the campus
Â
When the weather outside is sunny and you love the outdoor atmosphere, the outdoor tables and chairs scattered across the campus are the best option for you! Those tables and chairs can be found at the Britton Plaza, in front of Rector Complex Building and Weiss Center for the Arts. But, be mindful because sometimes the wind is so strong that it can blow away your stuff!
Â
-
Red Adirondack chairs placed across the campus
Â
Besides those outdoor tables and chairs mentioned above, Red Adirondack, one of the symbols of Dickinson College, is another option for those who want to go outside and enjoy nature. It’s really not hard to find them. Just walking around the Morgan Field, Academic Quad, or the Britton Plaza, spot an Adirondack chair and enjoy the feeling of studying while sitting on it!
Â
-
Althouse’s Basement
Â
There is an area in the Althouse’s basement where you definitely can study there. When you set foot on this place, you may feel as if you are standing in front of your dorm’s common room. Here you can study your exams, chit chat with friends for a while, and if you feel tired after studying, those sofas are there for you to lie down and take some rest.
Â
-
Library’s Study room
Â
Last but not least, here we come to the study rooms. The Waidner-Spahr Library provides some private study rooms that you have to book beforehand to reserve your seat, since the number of study rooms are limited. You can go to this website to do so: https://libcal.dickinson.edu/booking/studyrooms
Â
Remember to book the study room at least 12 hours in advance or else you cannot reserve it. Within the study room, you can fully enjoy the private atmosphere. Most of the study rooms provide black board, TV and DVD players and you can check the information of each room before booking it.
Â
Those are the list of all places to study on campus! Please be sure to stay healthy and prepare the best for your exams. Wish you all luck and remember that you can do it!
