10 Fun things to do this Fall in Philly

1. check out a local coffee shop for some October inspired treats (pumpkin scones, pumpkin spiced lattes) 

    Its that time of year again, the months of the PSL. Starbucks has reintroduced their pumpkin spiced latte to stores along with dozens of other fall-flavored treats. They have Maple pecan muffins, apple cider doughnuts, and pumpkin scones. Only here for a limited time! Get them while they’re still in stores.

 

2. try one of the haunted attractions (eastern state penitentiary is right in Fairmount park!)

    Grab a big group of your girlfriends and check out “terror behind the walls” this October at Eastern State Penitentiary. This place used to actually be a prison, making it all the more chilling. Only open for a few more weeks for the Halloween season, head over to Fairmount Park and get yourself scared!

 

3. head over to linvilla orchards with friends to try warm apple cider, hay rides, apple picking, and pumpkin patch!

    It wouldn’t be fall without heading to linvilla orchards just 20 minutes outside the city. They have a “pumpkinland” as well as fall favorite activities like apple picking and hay rides!

 

4. Longwood Gardens in Kennet square – Longwood gardens are well known for its famous Christmas attractions – poinsettias galore, Christmas lights, and attractions – but it’s beautiful to check out the gardens in the fall for the beautiful changes that autumn brings. Featuring their displays for “autumns colors” and their chrysanthemum flower festival.

 

5. head to an eagles game/tailgate – its birds season!

Its the 2018 NFL football season, which means you should head over to one of the Super Bowl Champions Eagles games! Right at Lincoln Financial Field, you can hop on the subway to enjoy hot dogs, cold beer, and football! It wouldn’t be Fall in Philadelphia without it. Its Bird’s Season!

 

6. cold weather means going to more indoor attractions, now that summers over, head to the Penn movie theater to check out a new spooky movie just in time for Halloween. Speaking of, the forever famous sequel “Halloween” premiers this week in theaters!

 

7. celebrate the new “Philly Cider Week” at your local Philadelphia bars and restaurants. Going until October 31st (Halloween), certain Philadelphia restaurants will be participating in the Philadelphia Cider Week featuring famous Cideries that are made locally!

 

8. Philly south street pumpkin fest – sat oct 27

    this Saturday, October 27, check out the South Street Fall PumpkinFest!It hosts events for all ages. It features hayrides, live music, fall favorite treats, and a costume contest! It is the epitome of Halloween.

 

9. Philly’s Oktoberfest 

    This year at the 23rd Street Armory in Philadelphia there will be the annual Philadelphia Oktoberfest. It takes after the German Oktoberfest festivals with live music and “Oktoberfest” type foods like “brotzeit” and “schlachtplatter”

 

10. Philadelphia 76’ers Home Game

    In the event of the Philadelphia 76’ers season starting up this past week, head to the Wells Fargo Center for a great home game! Tickets are inexpensive and great for fun with friends or even as a date!
