It’s that time of year again: co-op season is upon us! Drexel is known for its great co-op program, which allows students to gain experience in the working world while completing their degree. Whether you’ve already been on co-op or are about to embark on your first, these GIFs perfectly capture the roller coaster ride of finding the perfect job.
Stage 1: Early butterfliesSo you’re enrolled in the co-op program at Drexel. You’ve met with your co-op advisor, and you’re feeling excited and nervous about starting the process of finding a co-op.
Stage 2: Preparing your resumeOrganizing your resume is one of the first and most significant steps in the process. Finding the perfect balance of font, clarity, visual appeal, and important information seems like an impossible task.
Stage 3: Choosing jobs that interest youSo SCDC online opens and you spend all afternoon searching through the positions and choosing the right job for you. It may be overwhelming at first, but you remind yourself that this isn’t even the most stressful part yet!
Stage 4: Finding out if you got any interviewsGetting an interview means YOUR resume has been selected out of the piles and piles of applications. Time to do a little happy dance. So now, all you have to do is charm the pants off your interviewer.
Stage 5: Getting ready for your first real job interviewFirst impressions are important! No pressure though. The very intimidating woman interviewing you is actually a big softie at heart. Â
Stage 6: Nailing the interviewWalking home from your interview, knowing you nailed it is the best feeling. Now begins the anxious wait for rankings to come out.
Stage 7: Playing the balancing gameWith A Round comes the struggle of all the end of term work culminating into one week. You are forced to balance school and work because who said you can’t have finals and interviews during the same week?! After this week, you’ll never procrastinate ever again (at least that is what you tell yourself).
Stage 8: Waiting to hear back from employersTick-tock. Tick-tock. The most painful part of the process is waiting weeks to hear back from all of your interviewers. But like a package arriving in the mail after a week of waiting for shipping, it will all be worth it.
Stage 9: Finally getting hired by an employerMaybe you got the job you wanted, or maybe you didn’t. But you’ve finished the ordeal of finding a job and made it through to the other side!
Stage 10: You did it!Hooray you’ve become an adult! Congratulations! Now, go call your mom.
